Best Practices Additional Parameters
Additional Parameters
Depending upon the retailer, there may be additional factors that influence how their customers shop. If provided in the feed as attributes, we can incorporate these factors as parameters in Discover’s sort logic, allowing it to consider a customer’s affinity for products with a specific value for that attribute. Some attributes worth considering:
- Whether or not a product is on sale
- Available colors or sizes
- Fit style, e.g. slim, regular or relaxed
- Finish or fabric
- Author, Director, Actor or Musician
- Product rating or # of reviews
- Dietary preference, e.g. organic or gluten-free
- Furniture style, e.g. art deco or rustic
While generally useful, Discover’s default parameters by no means fully internalize customer consideration across verticals. As such, it’s important for the retailer and Algonomy team to partner together to identify and bring in the other salient factors that drive customers to buy. And, of course, you should validate your hypotheses via AB or multivariate testing.
